In this section, one of my students will be “writing from a forward operating base (FOB) in Eastern Afghanistan.” He will share his thoughts, reflect on his experience and tell us about his life as a soldier. As he reads more about the history of Afghanistan and the politics of international intervention, he will be able to confront what he learns with what he experiences on the ground.
